Cemetery Hill was a key Union position just south of Gettysburg. On this high ground, retreating Union forces rallied and setup new defensive positions. As Union reinforcements arrived the position was extended south along Cemetery Ridge and east onto Culp's Hill forming the famous "Fish Hook" line.
