Stone Bridge - In the first battle at Manassas (Bull Run) on July 21, 1861, the attack on the Stone Bridge by Union forces was designed as a diversion. Once the diversionary attack was under way, two divisions of McDowell's army crossed Bull Run stream at Sudley Springs Ford on the far left flank of the Confederate forces.
